The new year means an abundance of exciting new trends for the wedding industry, but what’s set to be big in luxury wedding decor for 2019? Read on to find out…

Bohemian style outdoor venues

The ‘festival’ theme is developed to have a sophisticated edge in 2019 with bohemian style outdoor wedding venues. Think marquees with huge expensive ceiling heights, lavished with fairy lights, lots of greenery, mixed cut crystal glasses and hand painted wedding stationery in dreamy watercolour shades.

This laid back feel can be made luxurious with the finer details, lots of white is key, while big blooms, foliage, brass cutlery and candelabra make the scheme feel refined and expensive.

Nature inspired schemes

We’ve seen an increase in the use of greenery in wedding schemes over the last five years, and in 2019 this is taken up a notch further. Trees, foliage and flowers will take centre stage in weddings for 2019, in a natural and whimsical style to create a romantic feel.

Opulent cake designs

The wedding cake is becoming an increasingly important factor of the wedding day, with the 2018 royal wedding cake inspiring an opulent trend for cakes in 2019. Expect to see metallic touches, regal piping, large tiered designs and a wide array of textures and finishes.

Eco conscious and sustainable decor

Unfortunately, some wedding schemes follow a bit of a throwaway culture, but along with the rustic and foliage lead schemes, more couples are choosing to take a sustainable approach to their wedding day and decor. This includes using free from foam flow installations, wedding dresses made using sustainable materials and ethical practices, and flowers and foods being sourced from local and organic suppliers.

Industrial spaces with rustic detail

Moving forward from the barn conversion venues and the shabby chic look, for 2019 it’s all about big spacious industrial venues, with rustic style decor. For several years now the shabby chic theme has been big in the industry, but this year we’re now moving away from the hay bales, crates and vintage decor, instead introducing a more refined rustic look.

Raw industrial spaces are warmed up using florals and foliage in deep berry tones. Harsh industrial fittings are made softer with greenery and metallics are embraced to contrast with the simple space adding an opulent feel.

2019 sees some fantastic advances in the wedding decor industry, with many trends being increasingly environmentally conscious to help shape a brighter future, while still creating a stunning and memorable wedding day.
